Just a follow on from a fab day at Warks yesterday, my old 27 year old gelding came 6th in first class, then 2nd with my friend on board in the next class qualifying for the televised final!! so proud of him!!

However, one real sickener was in the first class, whilst each height had a junior (A) section, and a senior (B) section the juniors were allowed to enter the B section having just done the A section!

So in essence, they got to jump the course, get a reasonable idea of the optimum time, and a 2nd crack at it, and to make matters worse, in A2 they "stole" two qualifying places from the seniors.

This is not sour grapes as i was well out of the first 3 coming 6th anyway, but my friend who had gone up there specifically to qualify on her own pony, was pushed out of the qualifying places by juniors who had just had their own class, exactly same course!

Do you think this is fair? What I mean is 3 junior qualifying places at that height had already been award in the A section!! So why have a B senior section at all???

Anyway very very chuffed that my old man qualified in B2 with my friend, although not at BCA which is on our doorstep and only reason we bothered travelling to warks!! Now at Arena uk DOH!!

I'm sure in the rules it says that horses aren't allowed to compete twice in the same class. Yes it does:

No horse/pony/rider combination may compete twice in the same class and may only compete in 1 height Class above.

So they're cheating surely?
 
good on you Jo!! i hate pot-hunters/cheaters!!!
well get onto the organisers and tell them of the girls who cheated! so unfare!!!
 
Thanks Prudunce but surely it was the organisers who allowed them to enter the same class twice?

Which suggests that its' fixed?
 
It was organisers who allowed it, I queried it with the guy running it! - however, Juniors is called "A" seniors is "B" so "technically" they are not competing twice in same class!! They did say they may change the rules for this next year as comments had been made!!

As it happens I have been on to them today as where mate got pushed down at BCA to 4th, the top two are not going to finals hence qualification is passed down, hence she gets to take my boy and her mare in finals, so justice has prevailed!!

Thing is its not about prizes and rosettes for us its the fact we get to do something more interesting and challenging!

They count classes A1 and B1 (A being juniors and B being seniors) as different classes!!

What galls me is we had all this with cricklands where juniors can enter senior weekend also! - fortunately they introduced an over 35's 2ft3 and 2ft6 so I am ok but those under 35 still get to compete with juniors!!

Rant over, we are off to Arena uk with two horses so very happy currently! Lets see how we feel when we get beaten by juniors!!

That makes the competition very unfair for the over 20's as the young'uns can use the 'A' class as a practice. Glad you've said something to the organisers as I probably wouldn't bother to enter again.

I bet also, that as classes are A1 and A2, B1 and B2, there's only one first prize in each alpha category??
