We want to go to Olympia Horse Show and need to stay in a local Hotel . Can anyone recommend a Hotel ? We would also like to take the opportunity to do some Christmas none horsey shopping . Can anyone recommend a website that does some good deals please ? Many thanks

Tripadvisor are good for checking what hotels are good in the area, I can't afford to go this year but I had looked at this as they got really good reviews on Tripadvisor and were very close to the tube station. http://www.castletownhouse.co.uk/ think they are about a mile from Olympia so could walk back and forwards if necessary, or a taxi wouldn't be too bad (think someone mentioned that Kensington Olympia station is closing this year).

I've been going for the last 16-17 years and always used train to KingsX and then tubes directly there. It's a long day but I haven't had the luxury of being able to stay overnight.
I think our rail operator has changed since last time I went (missed last year) and can't get a cheap return ticket anymore. Cheapest I can find is £87.50:eek:
In previous years I've got very cheap deals, one year I got a single to London for £11 and a single to Leeds for £13:D
Looks like I won't be able to afford to go this year, and I qualify for a concessionary price ticket this year so I'm really miffed I can't go:mad:

You can book discounted hotel and travel packages through Superbreak. Olympia offers special discounts on over 250 hotels and train travel through our partner Superbreak. Call Superbreak on 0871 221 3700 and quote 'OLYPA' to make a booking.

Does anyone know if the station at Olympia will be open when the show is, I seem to remember someone else posting on a thread a few months back that it was being closed over the winter, this has kind of put me off going, I'm travelling on my own and afraid I can no longer afford to stay at the Hilton which is 2min walk away and not keen on wandering London late at night on my own (too be fair wouldn't be keen on doing that anywhere) to get back to my hotel.

As far as we are aware none of the tube services are cancelled. We are not expecting Olympia to disrupt any tube lines. However, this will be your option if it does:

London Overground and Southern trains run direct services to West Brompton station (for Earls Court) and Kensington (Olympia).

Direct services (overline) run from Clapham Junction, Balham, East Croydon, Shepherd's Bush, Watford Junction, Milton Keynes Central, Willesden Junction, West Hampstead and Stratford.

Thanks for that, have been trying to scrape the money together for a nice place at West Kensington but was worried about how I would get there if I couldn't jump on the tube.
May just go and book the apartment just now (well maybe wait until lunch as I should be working at the moment).

you can walk to Olympia from West Kensington tube station (on the district line) in about 10 minutes (or get the bus, it's only a couple of stops). I live really close to W.Ken tube and plan to walk up to Olympia for the show.

The road is not at all unsafe, so the walk will be fine, even when the event has finished.
