I kept meaning to book car parking, and stupidly didn't get round to phoning until earlier this week - but they aren't taking any more bookings. Lesson learned!

I'm going by car because I'm taking 3 kids who by the end of the evening aren't might not to be up to doing 3 changes of train...

Just wondering how likely I am to be able to park in a nearby car park - Anyone experience of what the Sunday car parking situation is like?

Many thanks! Coffee and Danish pastries to anyone who can help :D

Car park usually rammed. We get reserved spaces with a box (although they've now been cut back to just 3). There's a small chance if you got there at the crack of dawn. You might do better to park a few stops away on the tube line and then get the train in. Or try searching the internet as I vaguely remember seeing a site where people offer parking on their driveways for a fee. Hope you have a good day!

Thank you that's really helpful. I don't want to be driving round and round looking for car parks and spaces. I did try parkatmystreet but drew a blank unless I wanted to rent for a whole month :D

We usually go on the last night of Olympia, so afterwards you get all the horseboxes coming out as well as the cars and the traffic is gridlocked. Last time we went (two years ago) we looked for other alternatives. We found a B&Q very close by (walking distance) that did long term parking - we were staying down for a long weekend, and moved it there on the Monday for 18 hours. It was pretty reasonable for London and had a really nice car park attendant who was really helpful. It meant that we walked past all the gridlocked traffic, down a sidestreet, got into our car and off onto the bypass before all the other traffic had got there.

Another alternative, again clear of the traffic, is the large hotel near the subway station. They do underground parking, but it was pretty expensive.

I can't remember the exact details of either of these, but if you googled the area with streetmap I'm sure you'd find them..

Thank you - wow that's interesting, I did see B&Q when I did the parking search but didn't think they woudl offer long term. V useful!

We usually go on Sunday's because parking on residential streets is free and you don't need a permit on Sunday's. This is the only reason we go Sunday's and both times we have gone we get parked I'n the street right around the corner with no problems or tickets.

Thank you GJ. With some googling I did find that if I go west of Olympia into Hammersmith & Fulham, the parking zone there is free on Sundays so I'm hopeful for somethign nice and close. Ken & Chelsea's website wasn't so clear but it looks like Sundays are free there too.

I'll report back on how we do!

Ken and Chelsea is not free on Sunday and the traffic wardens are a complete nightmare - you will not get away with even a couple of minutes over. I am frequently up there for family so know this well! Stick to Hammersmith. As I used to live there I always parked in the streets and did it on Thursday evening when we went up. However, do check are you are NOT parking in residents only parking - very unfair on locals and you WILL get a ticket. Check restrictions on single yellows as well. If you come off North End road (assuming coming in from Hammersmith) then you can start looking. Dont park on the council estate though!

I moved house from Kensington (20min walk from Olympia) 3 weeks ago and can confirm that Sundays (and on some streets - Saturdays) have a FOC parking option :)

I had no trouble last year parking in one of the streets off the one way system around Olympia itself. 2 minutes walk if that. It was the street opposite where you enter the multi storey car park. Take plenty of pound coins! There were plenty of spaces too, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't a freak event. Good luck, I'm sure you will be fine. All for the same reason as you, I never got round to booking a space in the multi storey before the deadline.

Hi, we went last night (Fri) and parked at Kensington Town Hall for £16 for 8 hrs. It was about a 15 min walk if that and straight down Kensington High Street. Good luck, we took a risk and found something so I'm sure you will be fine. There were some fabulous bargains in the shopping hall so be warned!!!

just to confirm re Kensington & Chelsea parking-you can park on single yellows for free on Sundays and in residents bays in some places but check the signs. and loads of the roads near Olympia you can park for free on Sunday too so you should be fine. I'm going tomorrow too but lucky for me I can walk from home :D
