Well I was just wondering about taking cameras to Olympia.

I know it says no flash photography but when I went last year there were loads of people using cameras with flash, and i did take my little compact camera and do a few photos with that but turned the flash off because I knew you weren't meant to use flash in case it distracted/spooked horses etc.

Now I have a DLSR, I would like to take it and try get some photos, but will they let me in with it (would either be in its camera bag or inside another bag where it'd be less noticable *in an attempt to make it less likely to be stolen*. Am I allowed to use it if I turn the flash off or will they not let me in with it?

Thanks :)

My friend I went with last year got some good snaps on her little digi camera without using flash. I even managed some good video on my mobile phone, though we couldn't use it during War Horse (copyright thing I believe and it was too dark anyways. Oh, and I was sobbing watching it so couldn't hold a camera!)

I'll be taking the camera - I want video of the Flying Frenchman! I'm not taking my bigger DSLR as its too much to carry (have a picnic now!) but I can't see why it would be an issue if you disabled the flash. The camera will probably react better in the conditions as its more powerful and you can adjust the speed it takes pics at to accommodate a darker arena if need be. I remember a steward telling a lady off for using a camera with a flash popping where we were sat. Think she might've been unlucky but the commentators did have to remind people a fair bit not to use them.

Yeah last year the commentators kept saying turn off the flashes to everyone, but every time someone jumped there was still a little outburst of flashes :/ I think i'll take Kevin then (yes my camera has a name :D ) and just see what happens.
Yeah, I can fiddle with the setting to get it set up right, it's pretty well lit in there so hopefully I should be able to get some decent photos.
Thank you :)
