At olympia last night i noticed that alot of the horses went round with their tongues sticking out. I know you do see this but there just seemed alot of them last night! Or is it just me???!!!

Noticed a couple too, tongues just lolling out the sides of their mouth! Didn't notice the horses in question looking unhappy/tense or jumping badly because of it. Normally something I really hate to see, but I must admit that the horses just didn't look bothered by it.

There were some 'interesting' bitting/bitless/noseband arrangements too - I wondered if there were some tack changes to cope with the confined space at Olympia which meant that some horses had a big change in their mouths?

I noticed this! Think it might have been the michaels-beerbaum horse, was definitely a female rider. The horse rode the whole course with his tongue out but whenever he went over a jump he pulled it back in! Didn't look distressed or anything, and jumped beautifully! Got a bit of a giggle from the audience!

lol i noticed too, seeing the above comments has made me smile though because i said to my OH that if there was a thread on here and someone put a picture of them jumping and horse had it's tongue out or they wrote that their horse bucked after every jump or every now and then people would jump on them screaming that the horses must be in pain/discomfort and needed back/ teeth checked;):D

I also noticed but as long as the horses dont seem unhappy/distressed I don't really see a problem with it, some horses just do it.

My cob does it no matter what bit/noseband he wears!! Even tried bitless! Funnily enough, as someone above said, he pulls it in over every jump too ;)
