Olympia WC winner sold to Athina Onassis

Eric Van der Vleuten's ride VDL Groep Tomboy, who won the WC qualifier in London, was 3rd in Helsinki and 4th in Verona, has been sold to Athina Onassis. He is supposed to have been sold for a 7 figure sum.

He was a very nice horse and she has plenty of money so a winning combination. Will be for her hubby probably.

yeah, she wont be riding it I shouldnt think it will be for Doda.

I thought she show-jumped too? Mind you, long time since I read that article, don't think she was married then either! But seemed to remember she was based at the Pessoa's?

she only rides in amateur classes and in the smaller ones (1.40 max) at bigger shows if she rides at one. I think all her horses and Doda's are at Rodrigo's Belgian place when they are in Europe.

Her insurance probably doesn't cover her to take part in anything bigger than 1.40!!!!!!

funny how rumours star , we were at southview yesterday and people were saying he had been sold to a spanish young rider!! wonder were that came from, lol

I'd hazard a guess and say that this is one of a number of high profile sales that we might expect to see over the next 18 months or so....in the lead up to London 2012

And it seems unlikely that any will result in horses ending up with british riders
