that one of the team GB horses is not 100% at this current moment. To whoever was asking about who was actually in quarantine shabraak is there and as 'sound as anything else there' which IMO is touch worrying.
neither daisy or william went xc on any of their rides today just in case of drama in case anyone wonders.

Gosh. i don't suppose you can hint at which one it might be...?
Hmm, i doubt they'd take anything that wasn't absolutely 100%, i think they've learnt their lesson from making that mistake in the past...

it was all the talk at wilton today but that is as much as i know. however i have spoken to sharon so its not hers and william and daisy were in very good form at wilton so doubt if its theirs either. anyway they have a week nearlybefore they fly so probably nothing but just dont be surprised.

no ther are no travelling reserves. the horses that go compete, if one goes lame you are down to a four man team, in eventing anyway.

hmmm it was me asking who was in quarentine shaabrak makes the 12th would be very weird if in the end he did make it to the olympics.

no, it's a 3 man team, the best 3 scores count, whether it's from 4 or 5 individuals, i believe.
hmm, sounds like it's Tina's or Mary's then...

must admit, would love Lucy to get her place back, but not at their expense.

hey kerilli this is me remember! you know i wouldntt get something like that wrong. it is working like this. a nation can enter up to five riders. the best three scores will count as a team score. the other rider scores count as individuals if five get that far. so it is a five man team all of whom will compete if fit and well. i dont think they even have to nominate the ones to count as the team in advance anymore. you can find the details on the FEI web site.

this is why so many have beeen quarantined. it is important to fly the maximum amount out there cos the eventers will still have ten days to go before xc at least when they get there. obviously any nation who can therefore get five to post has an advantage. i have pointed this out to the FEI, that this plays stright into the hands if the nations who are likely to win anyway as now the smaller nations cannot really even hope for an unexpected fall/ non completion to advance their chances.
Also for those who were interested, if a team member is eleiminated due to the one fall rule, the team will incur a penalty i believe ( say 500 penalties) which will scupper their medal chances but will at least mean that the smaller nations will get a team score ( for which they must have three riders finish) to use as a team qualification for WEG or the Europeans for an example.

If a horse drops out now, will a reserve come in now or is it too late. Would it be lucy and shabraak take there place if this happened or someone else, because we would be to our 2nd reserves?

I don't think that matters to the FEI/organisers. All our team and reserves will have been nominated entries. And if it is one of William's or Mary's horses that has the problem and may not be able to compete they have other rides as diredct reserves.

as tiger says any of the currently in uarantine horses may compete as of this momnet but once the five chosen get on the plane that is effectively it for substitutions because of the quarantine period in Hong Kong. There is no room at Sha Tin for extra horses.

i think they can take any of the quarantined horses, that's why they have spares in quarantine. wouldn't be the first time a horse has broken down in the last week or two before a major competition.

sorry lucretia, yes, i see what you mean now. i agree, after all the Olympic committee's talk about including lesser nations, this format heavily weights things in favour of the big nations again.

Call again Cavalier was kicked at home a couple of weeks back but was reported to be fine the next day. Could have possibly flared up?

Gahh, not what the Brits need. Saying that - if it is Tina's (as much as I want her to go) having Lucy back in the team wouldn't be a bad thing would it?

Are you sure it is an eventing horse, as I was at show yesterday and heard that there are doubts about a SJ horse and that this is being replaced. There are a couple of replacements in quarentine and if one of them is selected, could be a suprise - if the rumour is true!

How come GB horses are flying to HK so late ? The French eventers are flying out tomorrow...

There were limited choices and some debate over whether it's worth going over a tiny bit sooner, as I understand

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Portofino wasn't going tbh....she hasn't been on great form for a while now....and i believe somewhere else on here there is talk about Rupert R possibly going now...or perhaps Omelli

It sounds like Tina more than anyone beacuse if it isnt Sharon, William has his reserves, Mary has a reserve, does Daisy have hope street as a reserve?

hmmm well they leave tomorrow so we will know very soon if there is a change. there is nothing on the BE wesite yet.

Have just looked at the time of LL's post.. and i spoke to Pippa after he posted.. some how i think Lucy's mum would know more than most
wink.gif

unless of course things have changed this morning..

Not sure what you mean??
Lifeslemon stated that Shabraak had galloped yesterday morning, and was sound and WAS on the plane to HK..
However, on talking to Lucy's mum yesterday evening, Lucy and horse were still on the res. list and NOT going to HK..
I'm just trying to clear up any misunderstanding

Unless of course someone has heard different this morning.. and Lucy and Shabraak are indeed getting on a plane tomorrow???
