Hi everyone. I am very excited that I have been allocated 2 tickets for the Olymic XC- yay!!.
However having looked at the transport arrangements I have abit of a dilema. There are 2 times for coaches returning to my area, 6.30pm and 8.30pm. Now straight away my fairly un-horsey OH who is coming with me said well we'll book the 6.30pm, don't want to be there all night!! But what if it hasn't finished by then, I don't want to miss any of the action!!
So, does anyone have any idea, or a vague idea of what time the last rider might be? It starts at 12.30pm so I don't think it will be done by 6.30pm especially if there are any holds. Does anyone have any idea or previous experience of a big championship and could help me out here in convincing my OH that 6.30pm might be too early to leave!
What do you all think?
By the way for anyone worrying about transport who is just going to XC day, there are coaches going from lots of regional bus stations which have to be booked. Ours leaves at 5.30am to get there for 9.30am and is £30 per person which I didn't think was too bad. I live in a fairly big town in Shropshire but not a city and was really surprised and pleased about this.

Hi Swanny

Sorry can't help although I can't Imagine it will all be done and dusted by 6.30pm and I would def be angling for the later coach, I would be gutted to leave early and would far rather sit with a glass of wine if finished earlier than the 8.30pm.

However, I'd be really interested to know how you found out about public transport, we have been lucky enough to get tickets for the 3DE show jumping and awards ceremony, unfortunately didn't get tickets for cross country. We were going to try and stay somewhere and make a few days of it, however maybe going for the day by public transport would be sensible.

Yes I don't think it will be done b y half 6 either, hoping to get lets of back up on here to convince OH!!
I got the transport details off the official 2012 website but I am pretty sure there are only official buses to Greenwich Park on XC day i'm afraid. Check this for definete though. On official website go to "getting there" section and put in the venue.

Thanks Swanny, stupid as I am I didn't think to look on that website I just did a google search instead. Hope others help with your persuasion!!!!!

Quick update, have recently had an e-mail from the travel company saying that they believe that the XC is due to finish at 5.30pm. However, surely it would only take a couple of longish holds, a frangible pin breaking etc for it to run late. I'm still hoping to persuade the OH to book the later bus, don't want to take any chances!!!
