Just seen the line up for the Olympics Eventing Team - personally think a fab line up and that hopefully the GB team will do well and bring home some medals :D

Very good line up although I think the absence of Nicola Wilson always a superb pathfinder for us could be a mistake but think we have a decent shot with that line up :)

Don't you think it would be quite poetic for Zara to do well in this jubilee year, on British soil...

Although having said that I have everything crossed for medals for William and/or Mary they so both deserve it.

:D very poetic!

Agree, for William and Mary to do well would be absolutely fantastic definitely the biggest talents in the team!

bit gutted for Oliver though. Think he would have deserved his place and dare I say it but possibly deserves it more than Zara? I know its poetic and all her being who she is and what she has achieved but Oliver has at least matched that surely? hope he is on the reserved list.

I'm gutted for nicola as I have written for some of her dressage tests through the winter and have met her a few times and she is lovely and such a talented rider.

Won't comment on the lineup because I'm not a selector . . . however, can Nicola W not compete as an individual? Also, have the reserves been announced yet?

P

I am really happy Zara made the team, super team but I do agree it is a shame it is without Nicola and OB (for now?) Any clues when the reserves and individuals are likely to be announced?

Another who is astounded not to see Nicola and Opposition Buzz in the line up. Long time partnership who have shown their worth many times - not to mention the fact that I can't get enough of that horse! Also would have been great for Yorkshire.

Am rather glad to see Zara there though, she has had some poor luck with horsepower and the pair seemed to be on fire at Bramham at the weekend - jubilee year, home Olympics and royalty on the team - they had to really didn't they?!

Don't think so. Yogi Breissner was on H&C, explaining how it all works. Apparently the top three of the five team members are put forward for the individual. They do an extra round of show jumping and their previous scores in dressage, xc, sj (for team) decides who gets the medals.

In my eyes its madness not to include Dodi and Nicola! They're so consistant cross country and she has worked so hard on his dressage! She, in my eyes, deserves to be on that team 10 times over.

Zara Phillips is a good rider and her horse is nice, yes, but does she have 4* experience? She has plenty more years on that horse and i'm sure he will improve with age but every time but one I have been to see Zara ride in the past few years, she has fallen off or retired!

I hope Nicola goes and wins an individual medal to show that she and Dodi are the best :)

Zara has not had horses that suited her since Toytown until High Kingdom came on the scene. Together they have become a good team and a force to be reckoned with. At Bramham they wiped the floor with every other combination on the team... They do deserve to be there.

It is a shame about NW, but not the end of the world, the others are good too. She has been named as a reserve today.

Wish them all luck.

Nicola Wilson and Dodi are officially the reserves: hurray!

Zara's CCI**** pedigree is a bit irrelevant: The Olympics is essentially CCI*** (there's so few four star treks in the world, that it's not globally competitive enough at that level for fairness's sake, as I understand it at least).

Am I the only one who thinks I'd swap Cook for Wilson, not Zara? Zara has the best 3 star form recently; William and Mary are already there on experience, so I'm not sure Cook adds a lot unless MF is on better form come August!

Agree with VVD - would swap Nicola and Tina. Miners Frolic on a good day is brilliant, but does seem a bit inconsistent.

William, Mary and Zara have all earned their places with past experience and recent form IMO.

Saying that, it's a pretty decent team and let's face it, they all need that bit of luck on the day, whoever we have selected.

Go team :D

Also agree with VVD, I would keep Zara and swop Tina for Nicola and OB.... But! I'm sure selectors have their reasons...

I'm now really looking forward to watching (in front of the telly not in Greenwich!) and am already planning my snacks... Nachos anyone?

No youre not :D:D:D imo, not that it counts as im not a selector, id have kept Zara and had Nicola and Buzz in there as well

I'm completely and utterly biased for Nicola so I probably shouldn't be allowed an opinion!

But I think Zara will go far with HK, she did look really good at Bramham

I wonder why William chose lionheart and not Neuf du coeurs?

I'd have hated yo be a selector as we have so much talent in our country! Here's to gold :)
