Did anyone else notice the little news thread across the bottom of the page on BBC2 about half an hour ago. It said Michael Whitaker had to withdraw as Portofino is lame. Can't find any information anywhere but I'm guessing it's 'breaking news'.
 
It'll be Nick Skelton with Russel......

He isnt listed o present at the first horse inspection, so my first reaction is that he is out - which would be a huge huge shame

As a team horse Russell is every bit as consistent as Portofino has been this year. He may not be the 'big class' winner that Portofino could be but he's hugely consistent...and certainly isn't going to struggle in the scope department

I hope you're right there!
I'm afraid I'm just a big fan of Portofino, and am pretty gutted that she wont be on the team. But I hope it all goes well for them

I wonder how many other nations could pull out a 4 times olympian as their reserve rider on a horse that would be the first choice in almost any other yard
