The poor people (like me) who have had to go through losing a horse who was loved all it's life, and to see this filly who probably had never seen love, dying without it.

:(

[****] bastard, sorry but thats just out of order. AND he doesnt get a ban at all just a ruddy fine! - how much does it take to either destroy a horse quickly if you cant be bothered but to leave it like that. Makes my blood boil.

Sick B****rd a b***dy fine, an eye for an eye should be nearer the mark for sickness like that...... Makes me so angy mad and sad all at once

How totally sick and uncaring. How long does it take to make a phone call to have the poor animal PTS. Such a lovely looking horse too.

That is appalling but unfortunately these cases are not uncommon. The ISPCA do a good job but I work with the IHWT which is the only charity in Ireland which caters especially for horses. Some of the cases I've seen and heard about are horrendous. Ireland is the 3rd largest producers of thoroughbreds in the world, where the hell are they all going? Hardly any of them are making it to the racetrack, they go for slaughter or are left in fields with no food or shelter, which thoroughbreds were not designed for. The IHWT are doing amazing work for horses around Ireland which are neglected or abused and are also involved in educating underprivilged areas about horse care and have a retraining programmed for racehorses for which there is a waiting list. They have a few rented properties around the country but are having a Capital appeal at the moment trying to raise funds to buy their own premises and have National Equine Welfare Centre. If anyone is interested in finding out more or helping out heres their website http://www.ihwt.ie/index.htm

I agree with other comments and dare not say what I really think of the person who was responsible for the suffering that the poor horse endured.
As I already mentioned on the thread about the woman with the starving and louse ridden horse, I said then that imho the punishment should match the cruelty or crime.
In this case perhaps re-inacting the infamous scene from Misery since that is what this man caused this poor horse. I think hobbling him (and causing an open fracture of his knee cap) and making him go about every day life with no aids or painkillers for about 2 months should just about make this person realise what pain and discomfort the horse endured.
