I went to the yard tonight with every intention of hacking out alone and tackling any major napping as we usually have. It wasn't a good night as her boyfriend left the yard for good and due to bad timing she was tied up on the yard and watched him being loaded and driven away (might not sound like much but whenever he goes in the wagon, she goes in too so it was a shock to her)
. But I tacked up anyway and out we went. Amazing! She was so chilled! We had a moment of nappiness before the goats as usual, but I had a schooling whip instead of a short whip and gave her a little tap as she wasn't listening to my leg, and she jumped a mile (I really hardly touched her) and then walked straight past, hardly even glancing at them
! She went all the way to the end of that road (a major achievement believe me!) and even onto the main road at the end. I stopped there and brought her home as she had done so well I didn't want to push her and there were some bikers racing around making lots of scary noises so we turned for home. I am still beaming! To top it off, I put her in her stable (she hates being in there without someone next door and usually box walks, whinnies, trots on the spot etc) but she ate her tea in peace and I even got to put away my tack etc without her screaming for me! I think there's something in the air! Let's hope it lasts. Even if it doesn't at least we've had one great ride out alone
