On an electric fence post!

He must have been leaning through the fence (the battery was dead
) got himself tangled and dragged the fence half way across the field pulling all the posts out and the metal spike on the end of one impaled into the inside of his OH, halfway between the hock and his sheath.
He was fixed on the spot in the field when I got there, swollen and sore. Once I got him walking he was weight bearing. Brought him in and called the nice vet
He was very good with being poked about. He has a 2inch punture wound going upwards at an angle. (she stuck a swab in it) Seems to have missed all synovial sacs, and bones and hopefully just muscle. The area has a 5inch diameter haematoma and leg obviously swollen. But it is draining, which is a good thing. Given AB's and bute.
Box rest til vet comes back in the morning, hand walking a few times a day, have to flush it out with pev, and he'll have 5-6 days of AB's. She says he may be able to go back out tomorrow (we have a nice small post and rail paddock)
He is going to be very puffy and sore tomorrow
Will be popping back in a bit to walk him out. Vet doesn't want him getting stiff.
Silly horses. Lesson learned. Don't use electric fencing when the battery is dead
Vibes for Ellis please
Chris, if you're reading this, I've tried to call you but no answer. Will keep trying
