...so off we went. we first went to a yard and did about 5 horses, one of which being Jordy Lane(is that what hes called ???), a grey stallion, who was such a nice horse...first stallion ive ever really handled and he was so gentle! well the guys yard apparently he is one of the most famous trainers...im thinking his firrst name was oliver (??) but could be totally wrong! just had a quick look via google

and it was oliver sherwoods yard

we then went to Barry Hills yard...WOW! he has 3 american barns, all with about 50 boxes in....we did about 10 horses there, and we saw a horse that is worth around 10million!! a little filly, cant remeber the name, but they had lined her stable with padding etc. as she is that valuable!
we then went to a private yard and did 3 horses there which was also a completley different experience!
Iain was so so nice, he showed me all the racing yards in Lambourn and was great when he was working, explaning everything that he was doing, getting me involved etc. some of the horses were so so nice and laid back...
we also dropped into the trainer who was the first lady trainer to have trained a horse that won the grand national..and i cant remeber her name! have had to remeber so much!
he then drove me back home and he was so nice
smile.gif
he said he was going to ring when hes next in the area and will pick me up but if i wanted to do something before then to just give him a call
smile.gif

im getting mum to call him and see if i can go monday/wednesday next week as it was such an amazing experience!
i met some really great people, including a guy who does ultrasound on the horses at BHs' yard which was really interesting...
so all in all an amazing day

Sounds like a great day! What an experience for you.

Jenny Pitman was the first woman trainer to win the Grand National - in fact she was the first woman trainer and had to start training using her head lad's name I think (or the name of some guy or other). She changed the rules so women could be trainers. Quite an amazing story, though most stable lads and jockeys around Lambourn seem to be terrified of her ;-)

ahh that was her name!

it was truelly amazing

ahh cant wait to go again

i still cant find out if that grey horse is called Jordy Lane,,, deffo Jordy something as Iain called him Jordy something..but cant remeber the something
