I ride for a friend, she just called to say she thinks the horse is in as bad way, he has stuff coming out of his nose and "vomit" from his mouth.

I said horses cant vomit... shes calling the vet immediatly.

Hes hanging his neck low and swaying it from side to side.

I know this is not enough info for any kind of diagnosis, but i need help!!!

Shes phoned back and says its like mucas coming from his nose and mouth, slevers are dripping from him.

She phoned the vet and she advised to walk him for 15 mins, i told her to call the vet back and get her to come out anyway.

Her OH fed them tonight, shes just gonna call the OH back to see how he was before he was fed.

I cant get to him, his owner is very good with him.

Please send good vibes to Laurence!!! :(:(:(

Ps he's also making a squeak like a puppy being trod him, and agonising squeak ...

oh and hes breathing and walking.

This happened to my beloved old Arab in May. 8pm he was was, 8am he was just as described.

I thought grass sickness and started howling at the vet's receptionist down the phone.

Vet came and thought choke and flushed him.

He was no better hours later so we took him in to the surgery for a scope. In the end it turned out to be an infected salivary gland.

definitely choke. my horse was squealing like a pig when he had it! initially thought he was dying then the stuff came out of his nose and i realised it must be choke! had to sedate him and massage his throat and eventually it cleared.

:):):):) Hes ok!!!

He spent 24 hours inside being bored, starving and roasting hot... and he didnt even get grumpy! what a wee angel.

He now gets mush for dinner :o
