To increase my insurance I have to have a 2 stage vetting done on Grace (over £5000 as already with them)... I am absolutely scared to death. What if something dreadful comes up as she was no vetted when I bought her as I had her on loan for 6 months

I have been putting it off and off... then just had the impulse to book it this afternoon. So they will be coming out on Thursday to vet her

Nope... because I am already insured with the company I only need a 2 stage to up it to above £5000, then a 5 stage above £10,000. I'm with NFU

I think it's usually if you want cover for loss of use that you have to have a 5 stage vetting - 2 stage is ok if you dont. Depends on the insurance company though. I'm suer your vetting will go fine, a 2 stage is pretty basic. If she was blind or lame or anything you would have noticed by now. Even if something does come up, she's been alright so far, hasn't she?

We bought our pony without a vetting as daughter had been riding her for a year. Touch wood we have had no problems (well apart from a leg fracture!) with her and have now had her for 7 years. I am sure Grace will be fine, anything major would no doubt have shown up by now.

Thanks... I hope so too!

If anything was wrong, I am praying that it would have showed itself up as she is now in full work being ridden 6 days a week for 1 hr.

I'm in the same position as you becki, my boy's being done on Thursday afternoon. He is having a 5* vetting - more for our peace of mind than anything else. Fingers crossed for us both!
