Dont know if any of you online remember but a while back I was asking advice on my mare, since spring had arrived she had turned from a little angel into a demon, lots of you came back with some good advice and I ended up putting her on Feelgood 30:moody mare. She returned back to being alittle angel not quite as sweet as before but near enough. Anyway any of you that remember my posts from a few months back will know I bought her from a dealer, she is a first pony for my daughter. She passed her vet check with flying colours, with one negative, a pot belly (!) vet said he asked dealer if she was in foal and dealer said no way no how. Vet said probably just needed TLC. Bought her home got my vet out to give jabs etc and she said probably worms (!). Pony wormed twice but belly has got bigger and bigger. As I said she was an angel then about six weeks ago turned into monster in the school (yes we were still riding but only daughter and very light schooling and gentle hacks we were still getting used to her!!) Anyway rang vet this week and said please come and check her if she is not in foal then she is seriously overweight. Vet turned up today who saw her 2 months ago took one look and said OMG she is very pregnant. Vet popped arm in all is fine. Vet expects foal within 2 weeks max!! Daughter delighted

we have just found out that a horse that is loaned and used for the students is in foal. her owners didnt know. but she was getting bigger and bigger and its turns out that the mare she was turned out with at previous yard is in foal and that they were turned out with a young colt but they thought it would be ok. she is due end of this month begining of next. crazy.
hope all goes smoothly.

ooooh interesting I have posted about my mare on here and how her behaviour has changed since spring, she has become moody, upredictable to ride and got fatter and fatter - the only difference is I sent her to stud last year and although she got in foal at a later scan no foal could be found and blood tests have come back negative, but by golly if you saw her you would think she was in foal she is huge but only her belly. Good luck with the foaly and lots of pictures will be needed.

Sounds very much like ours. Two things have stood out to me recently (in addition to the big belly) prominent veins on the underside of her tummy (apparently milk veins) and when she is being groomed she turns her head sharply towards you when you brush/stroke/touch her tum. Oh and obviously her udder is getting much bigger (starting to bag up).

I am NOT allowed to touch my mares belly apart from girthing her up nor anywhere near her teets...if this is a phantom pregnancy she has some making up to do I can tell you.

Good luck with the unexpected pressie.
I too think i have a BOGOF on my section A mare, Same again bought at auction from dealer and vet said she was not in foal in November but i think it must have been hiding poor DoDo is massive.
We should take bets on who get there first.
Seriously though good luck and do not worry about the light work as it does keep them in the best shape.
let us know how you get on and post pics the min. it arrives.
I am all excited for you.
