Lottie was so sweet and gentle with him after Amber left the yard that we turned them out together when they had been stabled next to each other for a while. He followed her round till she got fed up and started chasing him off. I went back to the yard to say this wasn’t working and we needed a plan B when both Mylo and Lottie appeared back on the yard unexpectedly. Having somehow both got out and come back along roads 😬. On looking at the field I could see where Mylo jumped. An impossible corner out across a 10 foot drop to the river and over a sizeable stone wall onto the road! If his hoof prints weren’t on the grass where he jumped from, and his orange fur wasn’t all over the wall where he banked the landing and scrambled over I’d never have believed it possible. We assume Lottie chased him to the corner and he couldn’t see another way out. The river is fenced off but he somehow got to the edge and from there he was trapped.

Needless to say Lottie’s stint as a nanny was very short lived.

He’s joining Felix and another youngster asap - it was arranged for Feb/March but ground is too wet. He’s now calm and being looked after by a retired oldie who is being gentle and sweet: but yesterday was just worst day ever. So stressful and upsetting.

The pics show the river straight on and the wall he had to jump on an angle covered in Mylo fluff.

It’s surprising what they’ll jump to get away from being bullied. Mine was found on a road once having jumped 3 fences, his rug in shreds. It took me ages to realise that he’d been bullied as the bully horse wasn’t even in the same original field (but had obviously jumped into it to get to mine). At the time I just thought he’d had a fright from something.

That's terrifying! So glad he is alright. I think you said this wasn't possible in an earlier thread, so sorry if I missed this, but is there another youngster Mylo could go out with so that he has someone his own age as company?

Eeek! Did Lottie follow him over?

We think she jumped out over the 7 bar gate that is the entrance to the field. I don't think she's stupid or brave enough to go out over that corner. As @ycbm says it really is a desperate Hail Mary jump. By any horse let alone a baby. She came back to the yard and went straight up the hill to the field she was in before. So she made her feelings very clear!

Heavens above! What a scare. However, he's a bright orange chap with a broad white blaze. I have one of those (28 this time) who regularly jumps out of his luxurious, well fenced, closely supervised by expert horse persons, paddock and charges around the surrounding fifty acres at warp speed. Refusing to be caught.
On the plus side, he's been a successful Grade B showjumper in his illustrious past, so you probably have a champion in the making. Every cloud etc.

I feel for you - my filly weanling decided to pick a fight with the grown-ups today and is now more closely representing hop-along tucked up in her stable with a haynet. She is weight bearing, can’t see any external damage and does allow manipulation of the leg, so hoping it’s mostly shock and she’ll look a lot better in the morning.
