omg poor shetland

The ad says lives on nothing ..... yes you can see the nothing he lives on ... he's up to his knees in nothing !!! Poor thing. This is the problem with the ease of being able to buy a horse/pony or any animal . Anyone at a whim can buy one . I hope he finds a good home soon.

To be honest that ad doesn't bother me apart from the fact he is free. His condition looks okay and he is stood in a poached part of the field; there seems to be grazing behind him. Considering the wet conditions I'm sure plenty of horses are facing the same thing. The ad underneath with a 9 month colt tied directly to a gate worries me far more!

I am not sure what the problem is with him being in mud, the rest of the field looks dry and is green. He does not look in poor condition, the weather this year has caused lots of peoples fields to get muddy or am I in the minority. I dont like free to good home adds, but still hope he finds a good home.

Omg! Poor shetland. Hopefully some-one will give him a lovely home. There's an 8 month old gelding further down the fage the poor thing looks terrible.

i agree with your points above, but who would use a picture like that??? i suppose they want some1 to feel sorry for him.

+1

Better than being up to his knees in grass!

I wouldn't have chosen that photo personally though.

Yes I dont understand why someone would use the pic they did . But you are right , it does draw you to the fact that he's standing knee deep in mud when there is dry green looking field not 20 feet away . He's not chunky but does not seem to be in bad nick.... we've all seen worse online or in a field ! Good luck wee man.

Don't see a problem, other than a poor choice of pic?

Would it make it much better if it was up for £200 and still stood in the same place?

Agree, yes he is free  and standing in mud, but there looks to be some grass behind him, he looks a good weigh without fat pads and a lush paddock. Don't see any harm in that !

Also by the looks of the number owner is a member on here too.

I am perplexed as to what is so bad about it.

He is in a field and in fine condition.

So what that he lives on nothing. Do people expect him to receive buckets of feed three times a day?

That grazing is probably what every Shetland needs to be honest.

My cob lives 'on nothing' too.

well its not the pic I would choose but other than that he looks great.. and isn't there always mud in wales.. :p

for the poster who queried halfbred I think it means it is half standardbred (and poss half hairy cob.. well in this instance anyway!)

tbh there are people on here who have posted similar pictures after they've spent ages bathing their pony and it's immediately charged off, found the muddy patch and redecorated itself. Such photos are usually much appreciated by those who have had similar happen:D

i agree with all your comments ( i do have a 27 yo shetland myself and sometimes we have mud and we have managed grazing) BUT i still think that if he was displayed properly and a sum of money asked for him,he would stand a chance of a better home by appealing to more people.
