Ok, this will be long lol.
We had a call a while ago from a young lady who has 3 horses. She is pregnant and by her own admition cannot afford or look after her horses properly anymore.
When YO went to visit them, they were and still are in a part of a field sectioned off with electric fencing, high up on a hill in a very exposed area, with no shelter, not even a tree. And the mare is a 14.2 arab x connemara with no rug and she should not be in these conditions. That morning they had not been fed (this was 11.30am) and YO asked if there was any hay to give them. the reply was "oh, well i only have 1 bale left" "well i suggest you give them some and get some more" "oh, ok"
Anyway, we were supposed to get the 14.2hh mare and the little pony on thursday and she was keeping the gelding, but they never turned up.
So it was rearranged to today.
Now we have a home for the pony but it is hard for the people to get here but the lady could manage today, but she had to pick her kids up at 5pm. We thought no problem as they said they'd be here during the day.
1pm today and we had heard nothing despite the girl saying she'd ring us when they left. So YO rang them but no answer.
Finally got in touch at about 3pm. They were on their way but she had decided they were not leaving the mare, just giving us the pony!!
They finally turned up at 4.50pm and we unloaded a very unhappy and worried pony, and put him into the barn with the cows and put sililia in there with him. (plan had been to introduce the mare to the rest in the field but obviously couldn't be done now) The two were screaming to each other all the time
it was horrible.
So they have brought this mare about an hour and a half to take her lifelong friend away from her and take her back on her own. And left this poor little pony on his own. He'll get introduced to the rest tomorrow and can see and sniff them from where he is but he can't really reach bless him. And the other family have no pony and we don't know when they'll be able to collect him.
I know they say you can't save them all but she was right there in the trailer
