i have never been so furious, angry, fuming, stunned - i don't know!
on the not quite 2 track road at the end of my drive there is a 'Police Slow' sign on the pavement. It's been there a couple of days, i think it got left there a few days ago.
so anyway, the pony sees it, naturally being knee height it's going to jump up and bite him, so he side steps a couple of paces. we are at this stage roughly in the middle of the road when i hear a car behind me coming along the road. i try to move the boy a couple of paces closer to the sign to allow the car to pass on my right.
all i can say, is thank god he didn't move.
i swear the driver didn't even see me!
she came hurtling past me doing about 30mph on my left hand side,
between me and the police sign
i'm so annoyed i didn't manage to get the no. plate although i did manage to hurl some abuse in her direction
so, i carry on with the ride. i decide as it's a nice sunny afternoon i'll take him up the woods - he deserves it.
trot up main road to get to bridlepath - spooked by bikes flying towards us, spin round, take off back down main road - thank goodness nothing was coming!
try again, get up hill in fits and starts (obviously everything is trying to eat us now)
we walk (well, more of a knees-up-to-chin, on the bit, just about to explode kind of jog) across the field and back into the woods. Start to trot but this is obviously going to blow his brains so thought might try a slow, gentle, relaxing canter to e-a-s-e out the stress.
well, it wasn't really the chilling out canter i was after, more of a 'i'm just about to poo my pants mum'
so we returned back to a walk and bimbled out of the woods.
it was pretty non-eventful after this; just spooking at squirrels, being savagely attacked by a huge great roaring jack-russell. you get the picture i'm sure.
and then came the hedge-cutter on the end of a tractor. i can thoroughly understand this one, although it was a whole twenty feet away the twigs it was cutting were landing on me and my poor pony. and they hurt!
so, my only real question from today is 'why the bl88dy hell cant he work like that in the school?'
and my evaluation from today is; from now on i will stick to schooling and if i want to give my boy a relaxing day or let him chill out i'll just give him an easy schooling session!
