I have broken my wrist! Im struggling to type with my left hand!!! I rode over to scorrier XC course to have a practice at lunchtime, I jumped double logs lovely, and then decided to do it again .... big mistake! I followed a mate over it, Bear got very excited and he leapt the 2nd part. I flew up in the air lost my balance and then as soon as I regained it he bloody bucked and I went flying, landed on my back and my wrist! I was screaming!! My back was agony but then that pain went and then it was my wrist, I lay on the floor for a bit and then got up and I had stars in my eyes, I thought I was going to faint! Luckily my mate and her daughters friend had driven over in the 4x4. So the daughters friend got on Bear and carried on with my 2 friends who I ha gone with, and my mate Chris went and got the truck as I was at the other end of the course!

It was horrible you could see where my wrist was bent. The injury that I have usually only happens to people over 65!

Im waiting for a phone all from Treliske to see when I can have the operation, I think its disgusting that I might have to wait until Monday, but they might do it tomorrow. I've got a temporary cast on, im in agony though!
Bear as poorly at the beginning of the week and now its me

Oh no! poor you! I know exactly how you feel. My foot was broken in a riding accident 6 weeks ago. It needed pinning- and it too was buggered. I did it on thursday and had to wait till the following sunday for surgery- as we are not really emergencies. I had to stay in hospital though as my blood pressure was too low. I hope your not in too much pain- what pain killers they given you?

*BIG hugs*

That is horrid. Hope Treliske get it sorted for you, I don't hold much faith in the ortho department after a surgeon who was supposed to do an op for me backed out two days before hand. Something that should have taken 6 months max has so far taken 18 & it looks like being nearer 22 months by the time it is all done.

Fingers crossed you get it mended tomorrow hun. Sounds painful

Ouch, poor you. My sister went through a similar thing not so long ago, and she went to Treliske too. At least the ortho's there are all very good - I know!!
Hope you are not in too much pain and it heals very quickly.

Thank you D, atleast Ive got a nice comfy sofa to sit on now!! The nurse at Barncoose moaned at me for being too skinny! She phoned me just now and said I should be getting a call in the tomorrow, I should have filmed me trying to eat a baked potato I looked like a spud! I cant roll fags and Im crap with my left hand!!

Awww!! I know how you feel (kind of) February last year, my mare got down in a puddle to roll while I was riding her. Luckily I jumped off before she could roll on me but I was very angry with her, so I smacked her with the crop to get her to get up again..she got up and kicked me in the wrist..could have been worse I guess since my arm was up next to my head at the time.
At first it went numb and I didn't think it was that bad then the pain hit and it swelled up on top and underneath and wouldn't move. My friends took Sadie off me and walked me to the farmhouse and rang my parents who took me to the hopsital..Xrays showed she'd broken the larger bone and it had moved back and down behind where it should have been attached to..they told me if I didn't hold still & let them manipulate it back into place, it'd have to be pinned. They gave me gas to help with the pain but then I couldn't remember why they were hurting me..just that I really had to hold still..I managed it, just..I had to have a pot nearly up to my shoulder to make sure it stayed in place & couldn't ride for 3 -3 and a half months & it was torture

Stupid arm was better for my exams though..

I hope you get better soon cos I know how frustrating it is not being able to ride.. I tried to convince my mum to strap my pot to my chest with a belt and let me ride one-handed..needless to say, I failed miserably.

someone else i know broke there ankle this week they waited 5 days to get it pinned at treliske because of swelling so hopefully it doesn't swell. i hope they gave you some good painkillers.

Im determined to get out for slow moochy hacks in a few weeks! Ive got plenty of people that would love to hack him out, but I WANT TO DO IT!! I wanted to do showing again this year and lots of XC!!

they gave me 2 ibruprofen and 2 co-codamols, but mike's just got back from morrisons with 20 b+h and nurofen!! Im set for the night!
The nurse wanted me to be operated on today but they wouldn't, she didn't mention it being swollen though but maybe that will come later?

is that all!! tight fisted hospital. i got boxes of painkillers here from when i had perran. i was having between 8 and 16 a day.

Yowch. All the best for a speedy recovery.
We went to Scorrier on Wednesday. V boggy in parts and wissssh they would maintain some of the course better.
Healing Vibes! x

oh poor you.

I broke my wrist 4 years ago. i had to wait 4 days for it to be operated on. I had an external fixator (looks like scaffolding). it was horrible, but apart from a few aches in the winter my wrist is nearly good as new!

read lots of books and i hope the time passes quickly.
and remember do plenty of physio on your wrist after the operation. it will hurt like hell but will pay off.

feel better soon
