Whatever happens, cherish the good times, and be incredibly proud of what you have done together. The mare will thank you for that.
hugs.

Bless you, you obviously love her and have given her a good life. Enjoy the rest of your time with her and do the right thing when the time comes.

Hugs, good vibes and thoughts with you - you will know when to make that brave decision, for now cherish every moment with your special mare, so sorry for you x

Not necessarily God - but I do believe that things happen for a reason. She came into your life for a reason - everything does - and she won't leave til she knows that you can manage without her, even though you think you won't be able to x

Some animals are really angels. They come here to help us,teach us and love us.Then they have to go. There are others that they need to go and help......I don't care if folk think I am an utter nutter!
Sounds like your mare is one of these angels. She will now test the strength and courage she has given you. Lean on her,and your man and us.
Hugs.......even if they are from an utter nutter!

Try not to be too gloomy (hard I know). My horse has been on borrowed time almost since the day I bought her as she turned out to have epilepsy. Well so far, she has "borrowed" 16 years. She only has partial vision in one eye and I suspect her night vision is rubbish in both eyes, but you would be surprised how good animals are at getting about even though they can hardly see a thing.

As you say, this horse came to you for a reason, the same as mine did - to ask for your help, so you should be honoured. Most people just buy them in the boring conventional manner :)
