On foot with Beagles......?

What do the beagles chase? Are the rules for hunting with beagles the same as hunting with hounds? We had a beagle pack hunting near us today. Unfortunately the beagles went AWOL and I could still hear them shouting and using the horn to find them in the dark this evening. Hope they have found them all............

Beagles hunt the Brown Hare - Where are you based ? I took my new boy out today with the foot beagles and to be fair he was a legend i have been advised not to hunt him but as they were meeting on our farm i had to give it a go he did just as asked but was very uptight to begin but we got there

No they don't! As we all know beagles hunt an artificial trail, just like foxhounds. Hunting hares is illegal! xx

I am in Linolnshire. I thought that it was illegal too to hunt hares?? Are they suppsed to lay a drag trail then??

Sorry i meant to say before the ban they did hunt the brown hare now they hunt the trail of dead hare and on odd occasion they will follow on behind a hare shoot to clean up any injured ones .

They can also hunt rabbits which are exempt quarry species.
