On from the 4x4 lorry post what does a lorry cost to run?

On from the post below on 4x4 vs lorry, how much on average does a lorry cost P.A. to run, taking out fuel costs as we all do different mileages, is it the same or less than a 4x4 for tax, insurance, MOT (plating) etc?
If you had a 4x4 and trailer just parked up like you would a lorry and a small cheap car as a run around would it be a similar cost? I assume a lorry would do less MPG than a 4x4 and trailer????

my lorry cost the same in diesel per trip as my jeep does to tow the trailer! The only thing with a lorry is in winter if you dont compete much,its standing about doing nothing and that can cause problems

I changed from 4x4 to 3.5t 2 horse. She is an old girl but reliable and very sound.

Tax £165pa
Service and MOT this year £400 (new brake cylinders rear, one tyre and new exhaust)
Insurance inc braekdown with NFU £330 (includes a driver under 25)

We use it most weeks in summer (sometimes twice a week)and probably once a fortnight in winter.

Servicing on small car approx £140pa, tax same as lorry, insurance and breakdown £200pa

Lorry uses less diesel than Shogun used to when towing.

Weekly fuel bill reduced by £40 a week (that was a year ago so dread to think what it would now be costing me to run shogun with my high mileage)

Servicing costs of Shogun were approx £300pa

Result = BIG saving on switching to small lorry (but I only have little horses!)

Same as JM07, My old 1991 lorry has just failed the plaiting tho, and is costing; £70 new caliper(?) for front foot brake, £62 new shock absorber, plus labour and another £32 for a re-test!
But all in all, well worth it for me, I would be petrified towing a trailer.

My lorry does more miles per gallon that my YO 4x4 before its even towing! I think havign a box and a cheap run around car is the cheaper option. I know i couldnt afford to drive about all the time in a 4x4
