NB I posted this in the Tack Room but somebody suggested I post it here.

Hello

I have been looking at the various on-line training courses and there seem to be a LOT around at the moment.

Have any of you paid for the courses?
Who did you choose?
Why did you choose them?
Did you feel it was money well spent.

Tbh I was looking at the TRT. I had completely ignored it previously as I think I had looked at the videos of the live shows and thought it looked a bit gimmicky/culty and I am not really into that.
However I took my blinkers off and watched some of the stuff and it did make sense. I am finding being stuck at home with an unpredictable youngster a challenge and have had a mental block so I thought something like this may help.

Any opinions ideas? TIA :)

I have done TRT - it was good for what I wanted at the time and I got the introductory offer for 99p so it was cheap. TBH I got bored half way through. I found it frustrating as he makes it look super easy. I would like him to make videos with people who have less skill and see him correct their mistakes. I signed up as I like his principles and wanted a bit more behind it. It hasn't changed the way I do anything and I really feel like I don't have any more tools in the box, but I think I already do quite a lot of what he advocates anyway and through watching a lot of Warwick Schiller and discussions with very experienced horse friends.

I watch a fair amount of Warwick Schiller and probably incorporate a lot more of his stuff than anyone else. He thinks a little differently about it which I quite like. I have found his clips on spooking etc really helpful. I just tend to get ideas and then develop stuff for myself.

I have watched a lot of Richard Maxwell - he does videos and not subscription but I have not purchased.

I watch hours and hours of online stuff and TBH I wouldn't pay for any of it. I can usually mine enough information myself. I cannot even keep up with the amount of podcasts I have on the go!

Thanks LEC, interesting re the TRT. These can be huge money spinners and especially if they are well marketed. I just started having a look at Jason Webb and it looks similar to TRT on the surface so will keep having a good look. I see Organised Equestrian are having an event online and Jason is doing something so will investigate that too.

I think Miri Hackett uses a lot of stuff from TRT? I love her youtube series and would definitely consider getting her patreon. Training with Jenku also looks good. I watched a free TRT video a while ago and found it really interesting but it was quite long and didn't make it through to the end.

May I ask what podcasts you listen to? I could do with a few more. TIA!

Major League Eventing, Equiratings, USEA, The Full Course Showjumping, Malcolm Gladwell, Sports Psych show and Warwick Schiller.

I have listened to a few others but usually get binned after a while. I have a load of history ones, London School of Economics and a coaching one.

I subscribe to Jason Webb and have done for quite a few years. I really like it. His videos are sorted into small lessons which each follow on from each other. The whole system seems very logical and progressive which I like. There is also a forum (which not many people use!) where you can post messages and usually get a reply from Jason himself. They are also doing Q and A sessions on facebook at the moment and a monthly webinar. There are monthly challenges for groundwork and ridden work, you enter by video and get feedback from Jason. Their whole team always seems really friendly and approachable.

Thanks! I really enjoy equiratings and buck off banter. Will check the others out.
