Our precious boy, my daughter and I had gone riding. Her on the very precious not-a-cob, me on my TB.
It was a really windy day and we decided on a road ride because not-a-cob was a bit of a wild one and we figured it safer, half way home she dropped the reins and said somethings wrong.
Got home to him, nose on the floor. Should have been a complete div.
Straight on the lorry to the vets where they said his heart rate was low and lots of things were not right. But nothing was wrong seriously.
By the following morning he was really odd. Called the vets said I was on my way back. Realised he couldn’t walk, stand travel. Hence pretty desperate “come fast” call.
He spent the next few days having intensive care from here. I took time off work, vets visited several times a day. It was heart breaking.
He couldn’t eat, wee, drink, move, wee, poo it all had to be done for him.
It really looked like we’d loose him. I was given hours at a time for some sign of improvement.
It still now makes me really emotional but here we are 4 years on. He got better within a week but took a long time to get “him” back.
He’s now retired. Such a gorgeous sweet horse.
