Does anyone else think it's illogical that if you were to give a horse a low clip, such as a trace/chaser, bib and belly or blanket, then you would rug it but the places the rug would cover would be mainly the areas (back, sides, hindquarters), that weren't clipped. Whereas the horses neck and belly (and possibly head) would be exposed to the cold. Obviously you cold use a neck cover but plenty of people don't. Anyone else think this?

Did have a brief thought run through my head last night.... would his belly get cold!!! So no your not on your own there

Also thought lying down would be a bit chilly!!

i like to clip early so that the pons can aclimatise thier bald bits to being naked before the really cold weather comes.
hope this makes sense.

Yes, it seems very odd to me - I sometimes wonder whether a reverse trace clip would be more sensible but I'm not sure I could deal with the barrage of scorn

mine lives out and is either part clipped or full and yes i worry about his belly. although not his neck, tried hoods last year and he constanly recked them, so they will stay off this year.
