... does anyone know anything about the "silver" gene??? Inky is a silver dapple and has the silver gene. I would like to breed from him in the future as long as things go according to plan. I am intending on having him tested to see whether he is homozygous for silver. Are there any other tests i should be considering to help identify what colours he could produce??? His dam was bay and his sire silver dun.

Sorry been busy its a simple dominant dilute so inherited similar to dun ie you can't tell visually if its Homozygous or hetrozygous, breeders beleive it does occur in homozygous form. So if yours has only one parent with the gene you have a 50:50 chance of the foal inheriting it on a non dapple mating. 75% on a another hetro dapple and 100% if you breed to a homozygous dapple. Base colours excluded!
