I doubt it. I've heard of about 5 people on here who sent letters/email, and about 4 people I know have also complained... and I've been into a shop and complained, and there was someone already in there moaning at them... :smirk:

Also, do they have a 12 year old in charge of their Twitter a/c? The spelling/behaviour leaves a lot to be desired. :S

Ah ha a reply - Im guessing everyone else received the same drivel. Thanks CC will try that email now

Thank you for your comments. I would like to take this opportunity to explain why we are supporting the Hunt Saboteurs Association, who will directly receive the proceeds from our Fabulous Mrs Fox bubble bar up until and including Boxing Day. At Lush we love creating fresh, lovely smelling, effective cosmetics that are kind to animals, people and the environment, and we use the proceeds from a number of our products to support causes and organisations with whom we share similar values.

Our Fabulous Mrs Fox bubble bar was created by our own store managers from all around the country during one of our creative managers meetings. The hunting with hounds ban was, and still is an issue that is very close to our hearts at Lush, and we feel that creating a product is a constructive and effective way of supporting this ban.

In February 2005, hunting with hounds was made illegal in England and Wales (Scotland having done so a number of years previously). Sadly, despite being supported by more than 80% of the population and after more than 5 years of this ban being in place, hunts right across the country continue to illegally cause untold suffering to animals in the name of sport.

When we first met The Hunt Saboteurs Association, we were very touched when they told us that when the legislation had been passed they had felt huge relief that they would finally be able to retire from the field now that the law would now be protecting our wildlife, but that the sad reality was that they had seen hunts continue in much the same numbers because police forces seemed reluctant to attend and enforce the ban. So they have had to continue to go out week after week, collecting evidence and filming the hunts. They tell us that as long as the Law is not enforced through the courts, they will be out on the fields of Britain, monitoring the hunts and using tried and tested non-violent tactics to get between the fox and the hounds whenever they can. They don't want to be there, but they can see that nobody else is doing the job.

We feel that it is disgraceful that the Hunt Saboteurs Association, a volunteer organisation, are one of the few groups trying to enforce a ban that was passed into Law not just by a majority in Parliament, but with overwhelming support from the majority of the British public. We also believe that this majority think that hunting has ceased now that it is against the law. Sadly this is not the case and we believe the public should have the right to know.

Lush is proud to be associated with the Hunt Saboteurs Association who show the tenacity and bravery to uphold a law that our own police force and government seem reluctant to enforce, despite strong and continued support for the ban from the British public.

Throughout the course of the year we support many humanitarian, animal and environmental causes, many of which are nominated by our own customers. We welcome and value all feedback, so thank you for getting in touch with us. I will be sure to pass your comments on to our Campaigns team for future consideration.

Kind regards,

Vicky Jansson

Threats of violence, intimidation, vandalism, disruption of a legal practice undertaken by Lush?

I have got to hand it to the hunt supporters lol lol Couldnt fail more spectacularly with this campaign against Lush. Hunters are just as bad as those they critisise as we have clearly seen before. PMSL The public are well impressed by you fine folk!

I got that reply too, seems more than 5 people have complained.

I suggested they donate to Riding for the Disabled or World Horse Welfare.

lol lol I am sure one day in the future we may agree again )

I just think it is sad. The very action that Lush is being accused of supporting is being used against the firm in the name of hunting. I have no doubt ( although I honestly dont believe the act will ever be repealed), that the only hope for the CA and its supporters to get a true voice in the debate is by absolutely behaving in a decent manner. Any acts of tyerrorism however mild in the opinion of some will back fire dramatically. The public are extremely fickle especially at the moment.

To me violent tactics are always counter-productive. Our hunt has always taken the line that violence and vandalism have never been and never will be the answer.

This line in abuse and intimidation by a minority of pro-hunting people makes us no better than the thugs we condemn Lush for supporting.

Well the facebook group was over 6000 yesterday, so even if all of them had only spent a tenner I make that £60,000 they're down on turn over already..
I think perhaps their choice this time was a bad decision, and something like Riding for the Disabled etc would have been non political..
I emailed ages ago and got the stock response.

I have emailed to complain to at least 3 different people on the 'contact us' page on Lush's website, so they are lying if they say only 5 people have complained.
Maybe it 'doesn't count' unless you write?

Couldnt agree with you more. We can all here clearly see how difficult it has been for a forum member and regardless of my post to her ( meant as a joke), I cannot help but feel very bad for her. Hopefully things will blow over but emotions run so very high over hunting only time will tell.
I certainly dont get involved in anything to do with hunting on the ground so to speak. I will happily discuss the issue and I am very against hunting as it was. However, this sort of direct action from hunters does nothing more IMO to the general public than to convince them that the sabs are justified given who they are falling out with.
The public have almost sadly got used to such action from certain groups. The hunts and their supporters are held in higher esteem I believe but scenes of violence during the CA march and now action against Lush will enforce the view that huntsmen cannot be trusted to regulate themselves.
It may not be fair but I believe it to be the case. Just my opinion of course )

I dont understand why it matters how many have complained or what Lush have claimed. It is all PR, nothing more and nothing less to be honest.
Lush have made this decision. Hunters have complained about the nature of those who Lush have offered financial support to and gone on to offer violence etc etc toward Lush staff/premises.
Just another battle lost and the hunt supporters can only blame themselves or those like them.

I haven't seen a single threat of violence towards Lush in any way on this forum, only boycotting them, complaints registered and peaceful protest discussed. If I have missed it and you have seen otherwise then please direct me towards that threat. Violence should never be tolerated, that is what we are all so upset about.
Why does it matter? Because I can't just stand by and be silent whilst Lush supports this abhorent 'charity'. I refuse to be a silent bystander whilst a shop that prizes itself on it's ethical qualities, financially supports an organisation that carries out violent attacks on animals and people. Thats why doing something matters.
