...... is that I now have to keep my neds for life.

There are so many posts about bad homes, ignorant people, callous/lazy owners that I am too aware that one of my neds might end up in one of these place if sold.

Am I too soft!

That and my social life totally dissolving.

i'm soft as marshmallow, but i sold 1 of mine recently to a friend and he's doing brilliantly there, she's over the moon with him.
i sell with a guaranteed buy-back though so that i have peace of mind, if her circumstances ever change etc i'll have him back, no question, that way i know he'll never end up at a sale, going down in the world, etc etc.
there are lots of great people out there, you just have to protect your horses (and yourself) from the less good ones imho...

I'm a big softie too. I have a foal to sell & a pony to loan & the thought of it alone really upsets me. I bred the foal specifically to sell and tried not to get too attached to her but it didn't work & now I just love her to bits and the thought of letting her go is heartbreaking. My pony is for loan only, couldn't stand the worry of where she might end up if I sold her so loaning her still gives me some control - I hope.

Ah but you see you've got to weight it up - people are very unlikely to post about fab homes they have found for their horses. People only tend to post when things have gone wrong!

If you went by what the posts said then the majority of people on this forum surely would have to be some of the 'hideous owners' too?!

But you can't guarantee they will ask you to buy back, they might sell elsewhere and never let you know!

Yeah there are a load of nutters out there (a lot on here too

) but I have still sold 2 much loved horses to homes where they continue to be much loved, so people arent all bad!!

I didn't mean HHO users were bad owners (99 per cent of posters seem to be compassionate and know what they are talking about), just that some of the stories passed on from friends and other third parties make me nervous about ever venturing back out into the market! Long may my old girl toddle on!

Happened to me! Sold my little mare to a lovely family she was on loan to. Only sold her as she was so happy and on the condition that they offered me first refusal if they wanted to sell her and sold her extremely cheap as home was more important than price..... 2 months later they had sold her and made 4 times their money on her!!!!

There are more good homes out there than bad, problem is the bad homes are the ones you here about because it is shocking to here about them its good that bad homes are exposed.
