Has a horse ever died at adders before?

mark todd had one PTS on X/C a few years back..and Wide Awake collapsed and died under Lucinda Green after show-jumping back in the 80's...

It was horrible, how on earth do you stop an arterial bleed there? They must have to stitch it or something?

they'll have to apply pressure at first in an effort to stop the blood from flowing before they'll even be able to think about stitching it up

Two horses died, as sadly the horse who got the flag pole in him didn't make it. Very very sad. Just hope that the French horse was sedated and given enough painkillers to not feel any pain.

how very sad for those riders, ok tell me if im being too critical but these days surely flag poles should be out of bend rubber? and if your horse hit the deck hard why carry on, if we as humans fall over that hard we would likely be concussed therefore feel ill, that poor horse.

It was on the news that 2 horses died at Badminton today, the one that collapsed after the line and i think the second is most likely the one that had the accident at the Vicarage V, I was there and the rider pulled up as quickly as possible and behind the screens i'm sure the vets did everything they could.

Why on earth have they wooden flag poles? Surely with plastic(such as we have over here) the damage would not have happened?

saying that though - a plastic flag snapped in half could still be pretty sharp

Number of times I've caught my fingers on broken water buckets for example - just a thought

I think Badminton use a mixture of both plastic & wooden
