One for the collie people - does this colour still exist?

My Mum is of an age and health status where reminiscing is her favourite thing to do. Sunday lunch is usually full of it. and usually features lots of dogs - which prompted this thread.

When I was very small there were a family who owned a livery yard at the top of the road that always had a large number of border collies. They bred them, but they were unlike any I’d seen at that time. And I’ve never really seen them since.

Each of them were marked like my Pembroke corgi bitch - which in this breed we call red headed tri. They all had white markings, a red/face face and body with a black saddle to some degree.

I am curious as to what this colour within border collies/WSD would be? And if these types still knock about?

Absolutely pointless thread but for feeding my curiosity and nostalgia. Was trying to explain them to OH who, like most of them time, made a small noise and told me she had something else to do.

In all fairness, I return the favour to her on a daily basis but I am apparently less discreet as she routinely points out. It’s amazing how the cats need feeding, the dogs need walking, or there is something I was planning to sort in the garden whenever there is a topic of conversation which has lost my very small attention span or even worse, a suggestion of some form of evening social event with people of her choice.

I agree there is no gender bias in this behaviour. ?
 
Who was the poster who had multiple different colour collies? One was lilac.

I saw a very striking fawn/dark brown (no idea on correct terminology-caramac?!) gsd this week, very odd, I thought, but very pretty.

Edit: liver (brown) according to the AKC.

No they were definitely borders. But marked like a red headed tri corgi. They only seemed to breed and have this colour, and competed in obedience with them. Out of curiosity I trawled some of the pets for sales websites and couldn’t find a single litter like them….

Shame about the high hip score, the one I saw was very striking and unusual, but then people do like odd colours, don’t they? I think it’s appalling to breed high hip score dogs and just for colour. ?

Many poor qualities are bred into dogs and other animals just to get a particular colour.
 
I was going to say probably a sable border collie but there are also EE red but they don’t tend to have the black markings (and are show lines only I think).
 
Both of the websites showed dogs with the coloring seen in border collies in the USA. On the second website some of the dogs looked like English Shepherds. Those work a lot like the description of Welsh collies.
Here there are all sorts of fashion colors in border collies. Red and white, tri color and sable aren't bad since many of those can still work sheep. But, the lilacs, lemons and such make me shudder. They're all show lines. Some do obedience and agility.
