One for the HHO artists, or anyone else - shows/events

Ponderings really, but interested to hear from the other HHO artists, regarding shows. I know that county shows/country fairs are usual territory for artists with trade stands, but I was wondering if any of you have ever seen or heard of artists attending perhaps smaller shows or events.

Round here we have a big EC that hosts regionals dressage, plus a number of BE events, plus other well attended equine events, and I was wondering whether anyone had ever gone along and set up a stand etc. Or, does anyone ever attending say the BD regionals, ever recall ever seeing similar at a show/finals they have attended?

Given the costs of running a trade stand at a county show are rather huge, I was trying to think up some other ideas for the future!

A friend of mine did at a small local show and got loads of comisions out of it.

I might start selling art at shows. I was going to this year, but all but 1 show were rained off.
Did you do the pictures in your sig? If so, I bet you'd make a LOT! Perhaps put your designs on things like mugs? I prefer buying things like that, rather than drawings on paper (purely because we have enough art on the walls! Me and my mum are both prolific artists!) Maybe even t-shirts?

SC - I would never have considered a local show, but perhaps something worth looking into for next year!

Nah - yes images in my sig are some of mine. I was mainly thinking of prints, greeting's cards and business cards to give out - since I wouldn't expect anyone to buy a framed piece of art at a show!
