Or rather would like to but need info on mowers. Can you get a mower that can be towed by a 4 x 4 to mow field or do they all have to be attached to tractors. Dont quite know how they work - if they have to be operated from tractor?

Mowers are powered by a PTO shaft which obviously a 4x4 does not have. I think some quads have PTOs though.

SOME are powered with a PTO shaft...which quads DON'T have...but you can buy mowers with their own power source that are simply towed by a vehicle like a quad or 4x4... ...simply a mower with a petrol motor on top rather than a 90* gearbox with a PTO input.

I have never seen a quad with a PTO but have seen someone on here mention that some quads do have PTOs. We have 3 mowers, all run by PTO, never seen a self powered mower, only ones that would have been towed by horses!
