... one of many pet peeves of mine!
I keep getting offered horses. Now that sounds alright but I find this out of order.
(p.s I changed a few details etc)
-Old 15hh mare, been a schoolmistress for novice riders for years, and is now about 25. Obvs this horse is no longer able to pulled about and ridden by novices anymore so owner wants to get rid, so got hold of me.
Another pony, way to small for me, aged and has been out of work for a while. Moody (kicks and bites) on the ground so not ideal with children. Owner has something like 10 horses (!) and so decided they can longer care for pony.
I said no to both these owners, and they play the guilty card, threatening to put the horses to sleep. I can be a bit blunt, so was a bit like 'If you can't afford it, or look after it and the poor animal needs extra or TLC at the age it is then it should be PTS'.
Why on earth do people think its ok to work an animal to its literally on its last legs then pawn it off on someone who they have only just met??
Yes both my horses are well cared for, every expense catered for etc, but that because I only have 2 horses, which I can afford and have the time for. Hence why the look so well! I am getting really tired of mee being the bad guy, owners like that should be taking a good look at themeselves!
I don't have hangers on, all my horses a fit and in work, though when my last horse retired she stayed with us until she was PTS at the age of 26, not pawned off as a companion to anyone!
