Took Diva to Oldencraig to do Novice 33 and Novice 38. She was a star.

First test was indoors - now those of you that go will be aware that a lot of people have found the new surface disapointing and today was no exception. It was incredibley deep with everyone commenting on just how bad it was, in addition the resident parrots caused a few upsets. Not suprisingly Diva struggled a little but did a really lovely test and I was thrilled to get 66.7% and come second in quite a big class.

Her collectives were 7,7,6,7 - nowhere near OH's record but seriously respectable for me!

Next off was outside and all I can say is she felt fabulous - she has never given me that feel in a test before - only at home and I loved every minute of it! She was balanced light and so responisve I honestly thought it was the best test she had ever done. The judge clearly didn't agree - I got 59.9% with a 3 for the first canter transition (She leapt nothing serious!). I was absolutely gobsmacked and so disapointed not for me but for Diva who was brilliant!

I got mainly 6's with a few 5's and the odd 7 and my collectives were 7,6,5,6. Comments were that she is lacking balance and relying on my hand.

Now OH is my biggest supporter but also puts me firmly in my place when needed. Like on my birthday when I went wrong twice and he told me off for not preparing properly.

Today he genuinely believed it was a 65%+ and thought she and I looked great. He is so diplomatic - he shrugged and said never mind sometimes it happens - forget about it and move on!

Today she felt the most balanced and supple she has ever been - even the counter canter was fluid with balanced transitions down to trot.

Anyway I still love her to bits and I am very proud of her.I feel better for getting it off my chest. Thank you if you made it this far!

Great score in the first test, well done. Dont worry about the other test you and OH thought it was good and that is what matters

I am not brave enough to go to Oldencraig yet as get so intimidated by real dressage horses so in my book huge congrats for that too

Go - it's great. I have started competing with my YO and we have great fun. Don't be put off - people like us go and we are not 'real riders'
