One person dogs - can they ever change?

Yes I think they can!

My collie (was meant to be my son's pet but I knew from the outset that I would be her keeper!) was totally and utterly devoted to me. I think BC's are known to be a "one person" dog and she is working bred, brought from a farm.

Roll on 18 months and I moved in with my OH to his farm and for the first time she got to work sheep regularly, follow the quad bike etc and she has found her niche.

And I think that now she adores OH just as much as she does me because he is exciting (and smells of sheep ;) )

The only little bit of loyalty that she still shows is if we are bringing sheep in together, OH can call her, she stops, goes back to him but instantly looks for me and then runs to me so I guess in a deep routed way she is still loyal to me?

The other two dogs have remained firmly rooted to my side - he can call them to take them for a walk but if I don't go, they look undecided but stay with me :)

Is that the sort of thing you were asking?

Yep, Barn is pretty much devoted to my mum and if I try to do anything with him I'm either ignored completely unless I have food or he spends the whole time whining for her .. And if she goes out he pretty much has a panic attack :( just getting me down a bit, I'm not sure if it's lack of trust in me etc but I've tried taking him for his walks and he spends the whole time looking back, feeding him and being his main carer, training him but I still don't get a look in really :(
If my mums not in the house he's stressed and if she is I pretty much don't exist, today I took him to the yard and everytime my mum went out of sight he was screaming/barking and trying to slip out his collar and attempting to bite me/lead to make me let go.

Oh and the cat who has hated me for the past 12 years and been devoted to my mum obviously feels the same because she's sleeping on my bed every night and letting me stroke her (used to end up having my hand nearly bitten off!) she has a very good look of disgust everytime the dog gets attention and not her :p

One of my Collies will only go out with me,follows me everywhere, even the loo,and tends to panic if he loses sight of me.There is only one other person he will go to,and that is my friend at the yard who is always calm and kind so he feels quite secure with her,but that is only when i am also around. He was very poorly as a puppy and i nursed him through his illness so guess he formed a deep attachment to me from then.He is quite nervous as a result of being ill and needs lots of reassurance.I have his older half brother who is the total opposite and happily forsakes me whenever somebody more exciting is at hand to play woth him.
