I've got a standardbred in trial at the moment. His near fore points in slightly and he dishes that leg. He seems sound, the foot hits the ground flat and there is no sideways movement in his joints. However his saddle slips to the right - could this be directly due to dishing and the movement of the shoulder throwing it that way? He is also quite long in the back and the saddle he came with is a cheapo synthetic one with elastic girth (both sides). I rode him bareback today and he felt straight with no tension detectable and I didn't slip to the right in trot! He has been out of work for a year (he's 11) and feels like he could benefit from schooling - is very heavy on forehand and doesn't engage behind. Any thoughts?
