I can't seem to get pictures to display properly, so apologies if this is just links!

Despite his pilot, little black pony is showing some potential for this eventing stuff.

He likes poncing around:

He has had great fun leaping over scary things:

He's pretty quick across the ground:

And he is quite neat over a pole:

There's just one small obstacle standing between us and eventing glory (well, ok, we are both cowards, so that's two things) and that's this. How are we ever going to make the time cross country with this attitude?....

I can get into the water, I can walk around in the water, but can I get out of it?...Can I heck! Pony thinks its the best game ever. the more you kick, the faster he spalshes! 10 minutes he spent trying to relocate the water from one part of the pond to another.

Oh yeah, and I got a little damp too!

Demonstrating beautifully why I call him the bonkers black pony!

My eventing mare is very like this given half a chance she would be rolling in it too. It took some quite strong riding in the early stages to persuade her to keep moving through it but she has eventually realised that she quite enjoys galloping and jumping too so will keep moving on with the job. It has taken 3 years for her to reliably canter through though. My main concern was always fences out of water as she was so reluctant to get out we ended up with a no impulsion trot fine at 90 when the fences were not big or that close to the water but could have been an issue moving up. She is much better now and we are ready to move up to 100 now. She still insists on doing a massive leap in and displacing all the water over fence judges/spectators though:rolleyes: In a way I see it as a good problem though as my old mare was a bit water phobic and would only get in when it suited her.

Aw, she looks lovely. He has such a wonderful time it's hard to take it seriously. Maybe if I persuade him that he can make equally good splashes by cantering through he will satisfy his urge to make waves. I don't compete him really, not more than tiny local stuff, but I can see peoples faces if I get to the water and 3 other competitors overtake me whilst he entertains himself in the water. (at his only ever hunter trial he entertained himself by doing spanish walk all around the collecting ring whilst he waited for his go)

Your horse is so cute OP! He looks like great fun! At least your chap goes in the water, my guy is such a scaredy cat he practically pees his pants when I ask him to step into the water!
