I'm not counting my chickens yet...but by God, even after the setback last week, Kelly is SO so bright.
She's trying to push her way out of her stable (she is so bored bless her), and is moving quite nicely round her stable.
She talks to everyone who comes on the yard haha and her coat is looking brilliant. Hopefully, going to let her out for a wander next week if this behaviour carries on.

We also have been told that a friend's horse was lame for 2 years constantly and it took 8 months of Pergolide to get him right - now she is competing him again!

Always hope

Brilliant news kellyshero. It might be a small step but I know how much those small steps mean! My mare is now able to potter around the poor grass field for a few hours now and in the sunshine I know how much she has loved it. Still waiting on her cushings test results whch i should hopefully get in a couple of days and we can then decide best way forward.
Hope yours gets out for a wander next week!

Fab - a few weeks ago, we took our eyes off her for a few minutes and within those few minutes, she'd managed to turn herself out into the tiny back paddock and was having a right good wander! :)
the small steps are what give you hope - onwards and upwards from now on for all of us we hope!

Arghhh spoke to soon - bounding pulses in 2 feet this morning so hundred steps back to the start and complete box rest again. She was doing so well on a couple of hours out and came in fine last night. Only other change was I put in 1/4 to 1/2 a slice of unsoaked hay into her net to see if I could wean her back onto dry hay - could that have done it??? Desperate for the cushings results to come back to see whats going on, I am going to ring and nag the vets in a bit.

Oh so sorry to hear about the set back, you have my utmost sympathy!

But it does seem to go like that, just when you think you are winning BAM...

My mare went down with Cushings related Lami on the 1st Sept last year and its been a real rollercoaster. She went sound around mid december and was going out all day and then mid january she had a mild bout which resolved quite quickly and by mid feb she was out again. Then she got multiple foot abscesses and that caused her to put all her weight onto her 2 good legs and then got laminitis again :(

Anyway finally all of that's sorted again and last saturday she finally went out in the bare winter paddock again all day. But I'm watching her like a hawk!!

Anyway don't give up, I'm sure you will get there with yours in the end!

Thanks oldmare. Its soooo fustrating and to know that one tiny thing can push them over the edge again is quite worrying. Feel like I live outside in the yard with her at the moment, watching her/checking her which quite frankly is getting obsessive !!!!
