One year ago today I lost my beautiful, amazing, gentle Stinkerstonker. I will never know why she had to leave me without saying goodbye...........however I think fate must have a hand in it, what are the chances of the breeder putting her mare back to the same stallion after he had sired Nelly - who had come out mismarked? What are the chances that the said second chance would end up 30 miles away from us? What are the chances that I could buy her?

So one year on, yes there is not a day that goes by when I do not think of Nelly and what we could have been together, but I have my wonderful, kind, lazy loving Donkey!

Really sorry to hear about this. I was not a member a year ago so do not know what happened. Hope you are not too sad, she was beautiful.

Big hugs to you and the donkey. She was one gorgeous horse x

You made me cry reading that because I know exactly how you feel...even though I have the most wonderful cheeky horse I could ever want and could not part with him for the world...I still think sadly of having lost Yanto...another wonderful horse who would do anything for you if you were gentle and quiet with him...it broke my heart to see him in such pain and I did not have it in me to stay until the end...he too will be missed forever, just like your beautiful horse...but they are happy now in horse heaven and no doubt thankful for the time they shared with us humans..be happy.

Reading your post made me think of this poem that was sent to me when I lost one of my beloved horses.
"Somewhere, somewhere . . . in time's own space, there must be some sweet, pastured place
Where creeks sing on -- and tall trees grow, some paradise where horses go.
For by the love that guides my pen, I know great horses live again."
by Stanley Harrison
