In memory of our beloved beagle Candy who we lost a year ago tomorrow, 4.15pm at the age of 14.

She used to live at Solihull Riding Club and loved her walks across the grounds. She had a fantastic life living for eleven years on site in the cottage and later the mobile sharing her garden with our pen hens. Everyone who visited the club knew her, and she was often seen when my partner opened up in the morning or locked up the building at night. I miss her so much. She was a lovely dog, she used to play with the fox that roamed around and my partner would often see her sat in the middle of the field waiting for him to appear. She try to creep up on rabbits but was too slow to catch them! And when she got on the scent of something she'd shout in typical beagle fashion. Pictured here with me and my partner. The rose was the first rose that bloomed from the rose bush that my partner Colin planted after we lost her, aptly named 'Candy Stripe'.

We miss her so much. Keep chasing those elusive rabbits Candy!

OP, you have your memories, and they will be enduring. Photos evoke memories and sometimes tears too, but it's the way of the world, and exactly as it should be.

Alec.

That is really so true Alec, thank you. If all life gave us was happiness we would become greedy for more and more and then where would we be? I think when we lose people or animals it is His way of reminding us that its not all to be taken for granted. I am not religious in particular but I do think this sentiment is valid.

Candy had a great life at SRC......don't be too sad! That rose looks beautiful; have you thought about preserving it in silica gel in order to make it a more permanent keepsake, as it was the first bloom? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjhjdFJgO8c

Wish I had known about this before, what a shame, the rose is long gone, it faded and died quite quickly. Still we have this years blooms to look forward to. I though how sweet it was that my OH gave me the first rose and didn't want it for himself, but then this is typical of him, so thoughtful and considerate to a tee bless him. In time I do hope he has another little dog to love all over again and have as his constant companion as Candy was to him.
