Saddle number 4! Not too bad a fit. My arab mare who is low withered and short backed is really hard to fit. Our current saddle is not bad but tends to roll abit and she gets lumps on her back when I take it off. They dont seem to hurt though. Any thoughts most welcome.

any lumps and i would say you've got a prob! i had this with my mare; she is part arab, and when i first got her i borrowed my trainers saddle. it seemed fine, except in the 2nd week of using it we noticed she was getting lumps appearing after being ridden. we thought it was an allergy at first, but they were saddle rubs - she's now got white patches

we've had a nightmare fitting her; we are now on our 3rd custom made saddle! saddler said she couldnt see the arab in her....until she came to measure up over her shoulder, when she said, 'bloody arabs!'

I used to get lumps under my saddle, which was an Ok fit. The vet looked at them and everything.
When I got my wow saddle they vanished as if by magic

It might be interesting for you to have a wow fitting and see what they suggest for you

If they are little hard lumps then try washing her back off after each time you put the saddle on her.

If I dont do this then merlin gets little half pea size lumps all over his back.....also he gets roany patches under the saddle if i dont sponge him off.... they have all gone now!! And I didnt change saddle as was told it fits.

It may take a few weeks or more to dissapear though, so in the meantime make sure the saddle does fit.

The lumps are about pea size and quite hard. they seem to appear over her spine about 6 inch back from her withers. If i press on them quite hard it doesnt seem to hurt her. They go down the next day. She is only ridden 2 or 3 times a week.
