Hi all,

So I've just started a new position at work which TBH is very boring, sat in an office most of the day waiting for clients to come in, so a fair bit of time on my hands. Possibly looking at doing some kind of distance learning course, would be just for "fun" and not looking to use the qualification at this point in time.

I was looking at this course:
http://www.ukopencollege.co.uk/equine-science-diploma-course-p-1338.html?zenid=boj38e9vb85m2he75oh8t21rn4

Does anyone have any experience of online courses?

have a look at www.coursera.org they are due to do an equine nutrition course, set by edinburgh uni... but they also do loads of other stuff. I started a mythology course, but had to stop... way too much going on to put in the hrs required at the time... but they are all free... I have no experience of the one that you linked to, but the course material on the one I have posted was really good.

Just to say, the above courses are completely free... might be worth trying the equine nutrition one, and seeing how you like it before paying for the other one

You need to be strict with yourself to do online courses. I've 'done' Dr Eleanor Kellons NRC but I have no way got my head around it, as just didn't put in the study and got behind.

My hoof care cert/equine sciences degree is done a lot in own time. I find if I get on a mission with it I suddenly want to do loads but the moment I stop I really strggle to get back into it. I've not got organised and do things in set stages.. Download everything for module to laptop, print everything, read everything. Before I'd save one doc, print another and it just too so long. Now if I feel like doing reading I have a wodge ready but if brain dead but got some spare time I'll do printing.. So setting aside time and thinking about when you have least disruptions to sit and move through it. A buddy always helps so you can track/compete on progress..

Good luck with whatever you choose to persue.

Thanks for your tips Hannah, my boss is lovely and has said its fine to do it within work time as it's so quiet so I think it will be a relief to use my brain!

Queenbee, That is brilliant! Exactly the thing that would interest me and free!! Have enrolled ;) Seems some things in life are free.
