So, do any of you guys compete in any online dressage competitions?
If so which one and how do you find them?
I reaalllyyy want to start do some competing and at the moment online is the only way. I've looked at Interdressage which looks so good, but i'm worried the classes are too big and the standard to high for me:o
Can anyone recommend any?
Thank you:)

There is a few of us at our yard going to do it to save on bad weather/transport costs. I also found dressageanywhere, but we haven't picked between the 2 as yet!

You get the judges comment sheet though, so you can see where you need to improve, the comments are usually helpful. You'll soon get better results with practice and a competition every month is good motivation to practice. I've done interdressage and its great fun. Plus its not like regular competing, if you mess up your test or your horse is having an off day, just get your video person to record it again.

I've just done this for the first time with interdressage. Just the walk trot class with my baby cob, to give us things to work on and improve before we venture out into the real world in the spring.

I wouldnt worry about placing, there was 40 odd in the class I did! I was just pleased to come somewhere in the middle for our first attempt.

Just use it for practise and for the comments you get. The judges sheet is very in depth and helpful and she gives a great extra tips and advice bit, which has given me loads of things to work on for our next attempt. Which will hopefully be this month if the ground holds up.

That's true, I've just tried registering on Dressageanywhere and each user name I've tried has denied and i was doing crazy ones with"." "-" everything, no luck, given up after about 10 attempts!

I have four days off coming up, so providing my ponio's are sound i will learn one and get it recorded over them few days, and with a bit of luck the weather will be nice!

Does anybody have any links to a video of them doing a online comp?

I have done inter dressage. Found it good but sometimes u do get higher level riders in the lower classes! Bit Annoying but all in all good!

I did the showing classes too. I didn't put the videos online, I sent in the memory card, they send it back after. I found interdressage staff very helpful and liked that it wasn't run under BD rules, so you could ride bitless. I haven't tried dressageanywhere.

There's always some pot hunters at any unaffiliated show, so I don't think you'll ever escape that. Also like most competitions they have rules where eligibility for a class is based on previous placings, so somebody of a high standard who has never competed before is eligible for a basic class. It's still worth entering though. Especially if you can get some friends together so it feels more like a real show day.

Interdressage dont use bd tests and its all a bit odd.
Highly recommend dressage anywhere bd tests and bd registered judges oftengetting list 1 judges which is better than most competituocompetitions. Feed back is fab too!!!

Thank you for your comments!
I guess after all i'm not doing it for placing, just for feed back, but it will be nice to see some improvements in the placement area!
I like the idea of interdressage as i don't have to go and spend £££ on some fancy show gear!:D although i would love too.
I'm a bit worried thou as i think my arena that i will do the test in is slightly too small:confused::(

I am another for dressageanywhere, found the videos judged very quickly and I like the fact it's under BD rules.

I did a couple this year before I started doing "real" competitions and found it a great way to get that feedback from BD judges.

I cannot recommend it highly enough. :D

Thank you! Out of interest how much is it to enter a test on dressageanywhere, And do i need fancy show gear?:D:o

I'm looking forward to some feed back!

This is prob a stupid question but can you record on an iPhone and send it in straight from that? I'm soo crap at all this video recording technology stuff and don't even have a comp. Sorry for butting in.

Interdressage is great!

However, the classes are sometimes massive and there are a couple of real pot hunters who clearly compete in classes they shouldn't be.

They have now introduced restricted classes so pot-hunters can be avioded to some extent.

The feedback is excellent and the level of judging is high.

All in all I would recommend Interdressage and they also do showing and other classes so there is a wide variety to choose from.

Thanks feathered-exactly the answer I wanted to hear. Woo hoo. Just now to figure out how to put it on YouTube. Oh-I know...get the OH to do it! He he ;-)

That's a good idea! I kind of knew it existed but maybe I will actually try it one day! I will be so clueless when I do my first dressage test it will be good to know if I am doing it vaguely right or not :-)

Another vote for Interdressage here!!!

Daughter and Dolly have been competiting at Interdressage for 12 months now, and it's been a great experience.

As a poster above said, there are restricted, intermediate and open classes (in walk and trot at least) so there really shouldn't be too much "pot hunting" - it's not something we've seen too much of (perhaps it's an adult thing, rather than juniors).

The feedback received from judges is fantastic, and we have that to thank for lots of progress which Daughter has made with Dolly. You must get your videos to them by a set time to get full tips and advice - and the tips and advice for us has been brilliant. They include exercises to help you achieve the things they've suggested you need to improve on, and it's all VERY constructive.

The rosettes are beautiful 3 tier rosettes, and I believe many "specials" and certificates of commendation are awarded too. And cash prizes each month for the highest places.

Daughter has competeted in the championships recently, and a trophy month, and came away with handfuls of prizes!

There are also "leagues" and our riding school won the winter league in 2012, and received a set of dressage mirrors for our indoor arena.

Daughter also enters the showing classes, and the jumping classes - there's something for everyone (including youngsters, veterans, disabled riders, in hand classes).

OK - they are not standard BD tests - would you really want them to be? It's something different, and the tests can be very tasking - almost seems they are developed to highlight weaknesses to be improved on (plenty of returning back up centre line to A, and halting between B and E - has shown Daughter her lack of straightness and squareness at times!!!!).

I can't really find fault with Interdressage, and I PROMISE I am in NO way connected with it.

If you have any questions, please PM me - we've been doing it for quite some time now.

Oh and lastly, for the dressage - show clothes and plaiting up is not required, and neither is a "proper" arena - I've seen plenty of the highest placed videos in normal riding clothes, in a field!!!

Go for it, and good luck! xxx

Thank you so much everyone!
Thank you redmone! I was worried my arena may be a tad small, but oh well will make some letters up and give a walk trot a go! With a bit of luck, the weather will be good to me and so will the ponys (hopefully they remain sound!) i didn't realise there were jumping and veteran classes too! Thats brilliant!
I'm especially looking forward to the feedback!
I like the idea of doing it in normal riding gear! Don't have to spend £££! :D
And i can video it onmy Iphone! Fab!
Might have to get a white saddlecloth and clean my boots first though;) xxx

Honestly, your arena will be fine, and no need for white saddlecloth and clean boots for the dressage (obviously, for showing classes you need to be in correct dress and both of you polished!!!).

For jumping, you can even use videos taken at shows sometimes.

My daughter currently uses the walk and trot classes to try to work on getting Dolly's head in a nicer outline and a better bend and contact (she struggles to work on this in faster tests), and also enters the canter classes because she's more than capable of cantering and wants to aim higher and improve. She enters both types of a classes with a different purpose and gets so much out of them.

She's currently 2nd in the junior league which ends next month :o

Now is a good time to start doing this because as the leagues end in December, if you decide to keep going, you'll have started pretty much at the beginning!!

It really is good fun!! Enjoy!!! x x x

Thank you so much!
I'm so excited to do my 1st class, may enter one tonight!
Aww well done to your daughter, that's fab!
If it is small i can't see it being by much...
I'm really looking forward to my days off even more now!
You may have seen my previous thread re: bling, so surley if im entering i have an excuse to buy some!;)
Thanks for all your help, and good luck to your daughter and her pony! Xxx
