Dressage Online Dressage Competitions?

With competitions returning who knows when, I'm thinking about entering some online dressage to keep us busy - never done it before, so wondering which of the numerous companies are good to go with? We were competing at BD Ele, so looking to do Ele/Medium and preferably with BD listed judges.

Any recommendations appreciated!
 
Friend was just singing the praises of 'Dressage anywhere' they also use listed judges. She has done a medium test with one horse and started at the begining with another horse and is very pleased how it has been run she has inspired me to have a go when I start riding my new horse again.
 
I started doing 'dressage anywhere' in November and have just filmed my January one.
Have been impressed with the quality of the judging and the quick response. I'm just doing it as something to do and not taking it seriously, but it certainly is very well run and have been impressed
 
I use e-riders and equitest. E-riders is good if you are competitive, they have a lot of leagues and prizes!

Equitest I really like as they mark your test and then also have a second sheet with lots of detailed training advice, so I find you get a lot more for your money with that one.
 
I've done a few e-riders ones. I think the service is excellent. The organiser is super helpful if you have questions about entries, or need to transfer to the following month etc. There are quite a few classes to choose from (including BD classes for the BD league, as well as more "fun" options like prix caprilli or my first dressage for the small kids). I like the leagues too. the rosettes are lovely.

All the tests are marked by BD listed judges and the comments I've had so far are pretty much bang on.

The other one I've looked at is Dressage Anywhere. They were the original BD league provider. I've not got round to doing their tests but they look great.
 
Another vote for Dressage Anywhere. Really helpful if you get stuck, good judges and reasonable turnaround for marking. They also take on board suggestions for improvements (e.g. different classes, leagues etc.). They have BD member only comps too.
 
I've heard good things about Dressage Anywhere but not used it. I did some with Interdressage as my RC is in their league, tbh i wouldn't recommend them as they don't use BD tests (some of the tests are very odd IMO) and the marking is a bit suspect (well to my eyes!)
 
I use Dressage4all.
They use BD judges and go up to medium, in short and long arenas.
They use their own tests, and are really friendly and open to suggestions too.
 
I am following this with interest as I thought i would sign up to something ... currently ground too wet though!
 
Had a fun day fiddling around with tests and video and getting sorted. Very rusty and lots to work on but it’s given me some much needed motivation.
 
how are people finding the best way to film? I’d love to give this a go, but I always ride alone, and I can’t work out how I can film it to include the whole arena!

the indoor has the best surface and is the right dimensions, outdoor is fairly soggy and deep at the moment... (plus I’m 99% sure is more like 30 x 60) but I can’t distance the camera from the letters at all. even if I had someone to film, they’d have nowhere to stand unless they were in the corner at the A end...

Do not film from a corner, it must be filmed from A, judges view. Can you get the phone high up? If you can't see the top two corners, then accept that any transitions there will at most get a 5, as the judge is unable to see you.

Am new to this lark. Friend and I filmed each other. Don’t think we could do a decent job without a helper tbh. Switched the school around to film from the C end and be able to step back a bit behind C. Zoomed at the A end and had to move the camera slightly to catch the two corners at the C end. Will see if we did it right but my video has been accepted on entry so am hoping we captured it all ok.

Someone at the yard has just got a pixio tripod thing but not sure if it zooms but there are pivo classses online too.

Yeah I imagined that was the case, shame because it’s the only place where someone could stand to film.

I might be able to get the phone higher up yes, but I’d have to try. I think I could get most of the school except the two corners at C... sounds like I’ll have to have a play and see how much of it I could realistically capture...

if not I’ll just have to try and measure something out in the outdoor when it becomes rideable again and ty and balance my phone on top of my car or something unless my parents happen to be visiting ?

When I film my friends in the indoor school I miss a section either side of C because of the wall/gateposts. nobody has ever complained about it. For the more established horses I have the gate open and film from there. For the greener horses I keep the gate closed, but I miss even more of them then. but I don't think that's any different to real life. one of the main places I go competing has the judge's box flush with the wall C is on. So when I ride past there all they will see is my torso, and I can't imagine they can see deep into the MC or CH corners.

Don't worry too much if the view isn't perfect :)
 
It’s a fair point above as judges in cars presumably have blind spots, see the top half when the horse goes in front of them, and can’t zoom in to A!

Bit disappointed with my first score back but the comments were fair and our cruddy walk brought the score down as it was double marks. I got the best mark for rider position so I reckon horse needs to up his game ? or else it means I look ok but I’m not very effective ?
