Does anyone know anywhere that the delivery prices aren't too horrendous? Efeed will come to 79.48 for 40kg of micronised linseed and 40kg of grass nuts delivered. The same at gjwtitmuss will be 80.20 delivered. I have to get linseed delivered from charnwood anyway and that costs 54.70 delivered for 40kg. Does anyone know of other websites that may be cheaper?

I'd be really interested to know why people use online feed merchants? Is it because you just don't want to use your free time buying feed and bedding or do you not have a feed merchant local to you? I've looked at online (hold my hands up, I am a small independent feed merchant and we run a delivery service) but always think the delivery costs are extortionate when so many will still deliver for free. The micro linseed is interesting too, a lady came into our shop last week saying she couldn't buy it anywhere and paid Charnwood to send it to her, but we never have problems with sourcing it and therefore keep it in stock so are the larger chains only keeping in the 'standard' products?

I would much rather go to one of the 4 local feed merchants. Yes, I do indeed have 4 shops I can choose from. But not one of them stocks the products I want, nor will any of them order it on for me. They all say they cannot get the products in that I want. All I want is some micronised linseed and some grass nuts, but I am forced to pay extortionate postage prices and have to wait for the delivery rather than have the convenience of popping in to support a local business. But until they realise that the sacks of cereals and molasses do not suit everyone (in fact they suit no one, but a lot are yet to realise that!) then I will look to order online

^^this totally.

I use farm and pet place to get micronised linseed - neither local feed merchant is able / willing to order it :(

I used to order copra, but a place near my daughters college stocks it, so she brings 2 sacks set a time home with her:) but they don't do linseed either.

Another vote for farm & pet place 40kg delivered for £48, local feed merchant sells 3kg bags for £15, hopefully that answers above posters question about why I buy my feed online.

I buy online because you can shop around for prices and as I buy quite a lot and only have a small car it makes sense to have a pallet delivered which is dropped in my garage. Most of the companies also sell bedding so a mixed pallet gives me about two months supply of every thing. Last year feed went up almost weekly so at least if you buy in bulk you have no nasty surprises and you can budget.
I do use a local feed merchant but he is 10 miles away and although his prices are very competitive I end up almost having to do a weekly shop over the winter.

I do use my local supplier (a small pet shop) for the stuff she can get in, but she orders from the big warehouse place near us and if they don't stock it, she can't get it. They don't stock big sacks of linseed so I order online, and pay £2.99 delivery for 20kg sack, bargain!

When I started asking for linseed at our feed place they hadn't heard of it. I gave them Charnwood's number and it was ordered in. Now they usually have it in stock. Horsatack don't stock it and won't order it, but I have to go a few miles more to the feed place to get poultry feed anyway. Have looked at online, but we are a bit difficult to find and I'm at work much of the time so haven't bothered so far.
