Hi all
So i posted a while back about my mare who refuses to canter. Vet came and blocked her suspensories to rule that out and still no different. Only place that hasnt been xrayed is back and sacroilliac area. Im baffled as horse canters around the field just refuses under saddle so to me that surely would say look at back?? She started out just bucking in canter and now just wont canter!
My vet has said my mare doesnt respond to any manual tests for ks so he hasnt xrayed her for it!
Has anyone had a horse that didnt show typical signs but had ks.
My mare goes off to Sue Dyson in Newmarket tomorrow as need to answers now!!

Why has he not blocked and xrayed the back, I have never dealt with KS but have read enough to know that no 2 horses respond the same and that there is still not enough known about KS to rule it in or out without full tests/ xrays, to do everything but the back seems mad, hope you get the answer and that it can be treated.

I know 😔
When she did go in for back x rays he found arthiritis in the neck and said that it was bad enough to cause her issues so left her back 😡

Even worse, if her neck vertebrae have changes surely logic suggests it could also be further down, the minor expense of the xrays would have been irrelevant compared with everything else and may have been conclusive, I do sometimes wonder if vets forget how to use common sense or logic.
