Even though it's practically ruining our silage crop (contractors have broken down twice...they should've finished yesterday!), it will mean that for once the stubble fields might just be soft enough to canter on!

(Please no one mention to my hubby and father in law that I'm grinning because it's forecast heavy rain when we're silaging!

Could you send some of your rain to scotland pls - our ground is way too hard now and the grass has slowed down!

I'll try!

My field is turning brown, it's that dry. Livery horses are on grass that's a bit longer than mine (but I daren't put my Section A on it as she gets colicky on our dairy grass when it starts to grow), but even their paddocks are slowing down now.

Bring on tonight's rain!

Hmmmm....I don't want that much rain, but as it's going to pick up at the end of the week I'm sure you'll find it's dry enough to ride on soon.

I'm thinking we'll need a heck of a lot of rain to turn my desert dusty fields into anything suitable for riding on.

Even the Oak trees are shedding the ends of the new branches to conserve water.....they did that a couple of summers ago too. When it gets dry, they seem to lose leaves, tips of branches.
